🚉 Akabane-Iwabuchi Station(赤羽岩淵駅)
Starting from Akabane-Iwabuchi Station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line.
The exit opens onto a main road, but just a step inside takes you into a quiet residential neighborhood.
This area still retains the atmosphere of an old, traditional Tokyo neighborhood—there’s something really refreshing about the air here.
🛍️ Akabane Chuo Street(赤羽中央街)
Akabane Chuo Street is a narrow lane lined with small, locally owned shops.
Greengrocers, tea shops, ohagi (sweet rice ball) shops… everything feels nostalgic, like a warm trip back to your hometown.
I couldn’t resist picking up an ohagi to go — just the right size for a little street snack!
🛍️ Akabane Ichibangai(赤羽一番街)

Next stop: the heart of Akabane — Akabane Ichibangai!
This lively street is lined with standing bars where you can grab a drink even in the middle of the day — a true paradise for sake lovers.
I gave in to temptation and treated myself to some grilled skewers and a glass of lemon sour. 😄
🌼 Suzuran Street(スズラン通り)
Suzuran Street, with its charming little arches, is one of the trendier spots in Akabane.
Lined with vintage clothing shops and quirky boutiques, it has a welcoming vibe that makes you want to stop and browse.

🌳 Akabane Park(赤羽公園)
Akabane Park, a local spot for relaxation.
With its giraffe-shaped slide, fountains, flower beds, and pergola, it’s surprisingly photogenic.

🎉 Shichifukujin Plaza(七福神広場)
Just beyond Akabane Station, heading northwest, lies the quietly tucked-away Shichifukujin Plaza.
Small stone statues line the area, their gentle expressions sure to bring a smile to your face.
⛩️ Hachiman Shrine(八幡神社)
Today’s destination is Akabane Hachiman Shrine, famous for being built right over the railway tracks.

This is quite a rare shrine with the Shinkansen (bullet train) running right underneath.

The shrine grounds are quiet and have a sacred atmosphere.

Visiting here at the end of your journey leaves both your mind and body refreshed.
